Wide Soccer Cleats

If you have big feet, finding cleats that are comfortable and fit you well can be really tough. That’s why I’ve created this resource to help you find the cleats that are right for you! I have wide feet, so I’ve been through this process. I’ve managed to figure out what the best brands and styles are for people with big feet through trial and error – and here are my choices!

Wide
Wide Cleats!

I’ve found Kelme cleats to be fantasic wide soccer cleats. They are wide around the middle of the foot without making the other parts out of proportion. With Kelme cleats, I would get the same size shoe that you normally wear. You’ll be amazed at the results! Out of the Kelme line, I would specifically recommend the Moleon TRX and the Aire TRX (see below).

Kelme cleats may not look wide in those pictures, but trust me, when you put them on, they’ll feel amazing.

The Nike Total 90 line is also very good for people with wide feet. I love these cleats. They offer great power and accuracy while still being very comfortable for people with large feet. Watch out, though, because the other Nike lines of cleats are not wide AT ALL! I’m talking about the Mercurial line specifically – they tend to run very narrow. But the Total 90s are fantastic. I highly recommend them. There are three cleats on the T90 line: Lasers, Strikes, and Shoots. The Shoots are the cheapest, but I don’t recommend them. They aren’t very durable at all, and they’ll likely fall apart on you quickly after you get them. I highly recommend the T90 Lasers and T90 Strikes (see below). They are fantastic wide soccer cleats for people with large feet!

Kelme cleats and the Nike T90 line are my favorites for people with wide feet, but if you’re set against buying either of those, you have one more option. Buying cleats made from kangaroo leather is a very good choice for people with large feet. Kangaroo leather molds to your foot very well and creates a very comfortable fit. If you buy cleats with kangaroo leather, they will likely be uncomfortable for the first couple weeks, but then they’ll feel great. Some of my favorite k-leather cleats include T90 Lasers (mentioned above), Lotto Stadio Primatos, and Puma v1.10s and v1.08s (see below). All of these cleats do a great job molding to your foot and end up being very comfortable.

I hope I’ve done a good job covering wide soccer shoes here, but if you have any more questions, please contact me! I’m happy to answer all questions. You can click any of those links in the article to go and buy the cleats mentioned!

I have found that the right fit for a soccer cleat is very important especially the width of the shoe since I’ve discovered I have abnormally wide feet :P

The best resource I have found is in the comments on the Nike site, not only for the comments themselves but also for the scales where users rate the size, comfort, width, and durability. Like you mention in the post – most comments on the Nike site say the Nike T90 laser runs wide.

I ended up purchasing these shoes and am waiting for their delivery. The final sell was the price of the T90’s which are more affordable than the mercurial vapors :)

Thank you for this information! Its always been a struggle finding cleats with my wide feet, I never would have thought that Nikes or Pumas might fit. The last pair i purchased Diadora LX-K fit nicely. I find that Diadora tends to run a bit wider than most other brands.

Thanks for the comment, Brian! And thanks for letting me know about the comments on the Nike site – that’s really useful.

Thank you too, Moe! Also good to know that Diadora runs wide.

After reviewing several models, i can tell that the Nike Total90 III line are wider than the rest of the nike cleats. The mercurial line is narrow.

Also the Diadora LX line is a wide cleat.

From adidas the widest cleats i have used so far are the F30 line, which are the cheap model of the F50 tunit.
The predator line is not recommended. These cleats are very narrow.

First of all, great article. Second, I too have wide feet.

And lastly, I have recently purchased a pair of Mercurial Veloci boots.

The toe area fits a bit narrow right now, do you think when it breaks in it will fit or should I be concerned about having to look for Kelme or Puma brands shoes?

  6. Andy July 21, 2010 at 8:45 am #

    Manny -

I’m glad our findings line up! That’s interesting that the F30 line is wide, but the F50s are not. And thanks for pointing that out about the Predator line, I agree with that!

    Ano -

I would stick with the Veloci’s for now if it’s just the toe area that’s narrow. That should begin to fit better as you wear them. Try to wear them for some light workouts or around the house to break them in before you try to wear them for a game.

Thank you both for the comments!

    Thank you the great review.
Please let me know, is CTR360 line wide or not?
I’m from Viet Nam. Which is the best site i can purchase?
    Thank you!

  8. Andy July 28, 2010 at 3:21 pm #

    Hi Anh!

The CTR360 line is in the middle – it’s not exactly wide, but it’s not narrow either. I would recommend one of the cleats in the article above from soccer.com – you can just follow the links in our article.

    Thanks for the comment!

  9. Anh July 31, 2010 at 11:11 am #

    Thanks Andy!
I have one more question. With dimensions are 26cm and 11cm, and i like to purchase one CTR360 cleat(which is suitable for my playing style), what size should i chose?
    Thank you!

  10. Andy July 31, 2010 at 11:16 am #

    Hi Anh -

I would probably go for a size 10.5 CTR360 with those measurements. That should fit you nicely.

    Thanks for the comments!

Hi again Andy, sorry to take your time again with this, but after wearing the Mercurials for a month now I have decided to go look for a new Soccer boot that actually works for me and doesn’t hurt my feet every second I wear them. My brother has already started wearing the Mercurials as he has narrower feet and he’s fine with it.

So, here are my choices for wide shoes:

Puma, hard to find some models here but if I search for it good enough I might find the models you mentioned and get them succesfully.

Kelme, not available AT ALL here but I’ve seen everyone say they’re great for wide feet and that’s what’s bugging me. So, no Kelmes (unfortunately).

And here’s the last one, Lotto shoes.
I have found a K-Leather upper Soccer shoe, called Vento KL FG in a local store and it’s on sale. Do you think these shoes will mold to my feet if I get the correct size?

Once again, thank you for the help!

  12. Andy August 5, 2010 at 2:21 pm #

    Hi Ano -

Don’t worry about taking up my time – I’m here to help! Sorry to hear it about the Mercurials, but they definitely do run narrow. I’m glad they’ve gone to your brother and not to waste though.

Out of what you listed, I would go for the Lotto Vento. They are excellent cleats. I mentioned the Lotto Stadio Primatos in the article, and the Ventos have a similar structure. (Plus, it’s on sale!)

    Thanks for the comment!

    Hi Andy!
    Thanks for the advice, but i used to wear 8US – 8.5US (26cm – 26,5cm).
I wonder the size 10.5 you mention is for kids ??
    Thanks for helping us!

  14. Andy August 13, 2010 at 9:27 pm #

Sorry Anh, I’m not familiar with non-US measurements so I just found a chart online and based my recommendation off of that. Apparently it wasn’t right! In that case, I would go for the 8.5. They should fit you very well.

    Sorry!

  15. Anh August 23, 2010 at 8:33 am #

It’s okey! I have found the best solution for my case. I purchased two pair, US 8 and US 8.5. I’ll sell the unfit one. There’re always many people ready to buy because in my country, to have official Nike products is really difficult and more expensive than they really are (shipping, tax…)
    Thx for sharing!

  16. Andy August 23, 2010 at 9:19 am #

That’s an excellent idea! I’m glad you were able to find what you were looking for.

    Hi Andy,

Do you know if any of the cleats you mention come in Women’s size 5 or 5 1/2?

  18. Tanuj September 13, 2010 at 2:07 am #

    Hi Andy,

i have the opposite problem, i have very narrow feet and am flat footed as well! I was wondering what suggestions you had for me in terms of cleats? i was previously wearing umbro speciali’s and found them great but now the shoe has started becoming loose whilst playing and this caused me a serious knee injury recently. I have been suggested the adinova/adipure/adicore III range – any other suggestions?

    would appreciate your help.

    thanks,

    T

  19. Aris September 21, 2010 at 7:38 am #

You should take consider in Adidas predator. They are very tough and also wide. I have a wide feet. Recently, I’ve bought a Adizero. Although the Adizero has a narrow side but it fits very well on me. I recommend people with wide feet to buy the latest Adidas Predator.

  20. Andy September 23, 2010 at 7:55 pm #

    Maureen -

Women’s size 5? Those are some tiny feet! I doubt any of the above cleats come in those sizes, but I’d check out the women’s section of soccer.com and see if you can find anything.

    Tanuj -

I’d definitely try out the adipure range, and maybe Adizeros as well. Another suggestion would be the Mercurial line from Nike. Let me know if any of those work out!

    Aris -

Predators can definitely work as well – though they aren’t quite as wide as the others. I found the same thing with the Adizero’s – they are narrow, but still fit my wide foot!

Sorry all for the late responses, I’ve been very busy lately. Thanks for the comments though!

hey i got a question if the total 90 lasers are wide already why are the new red total 90 lasers on soccer.com say wide size when it doesnt on the other colorways does it mean its more wider plz respond asap!

  22. Andy October 10, 2010 at 7:44 pm #

    Hi Gabriel -

Yes, the wide size is even wider than the normal Lasers! I would only get the wide size if you have very, very wide feet. Otherwise, the normal Laser should be fine.

    Thanks for the comment!

  23. Mark October 11, 2010 at 1:15 pm #

    Hey Andy,

My foot dimensions are 24.5cm and 10cm(width). What size should I buy? Do you recommend buying adiPure II’s? (It’s on sale)

  24. Andy October 11, 2010 at 6:27 pm #

    Hi Mark -

I would probably go for a size 8 (US). Adipure IIs would not be my first choice for you – I’d check out one of the pairs in the article. But if they’re on sale, you should at least try them out a bit.

    Thanks for the comment!

I wear these Mizuno cleats and they’ve been the best ones I’ve ever worn: Mizuno SuperSonic Wave SP

    Thanks for the article.

I have some wide and flat feet (E to EE) and have to join the people singing Diadora’s praises. I switched over from Kelmes which, at least in my experience, were a poor mesh with my foot. It seemed to take months to break them in (practice 2-3 times per week, games every weekend) and I was never satisfied with the control.

The guys at my local shop know their business and pulled out the Diadoras and a pair of Puma Kings. The Pumas were too wide, even for my foot, but if someone out there has super wide feet, try a pair on. I purchased the Diadoras and couldn’t be happier. Softest leather I’ve ever owned, they worked great out of the box. The model is the Maracana.

I haven’t owned them in years now, but for 4 seasons I wore nothing but Umbro Speciali’s/Pele Supremes. They were great once the leather was broken in. The theme to all these boots, as Andy already said, is LEATHER. It will stretch and mold to your feet.

  27. Mark November 5, 2010 at 12:33 pm #

    Andy,

I have wide feet and fallen arches. They’re also pretty long. I haven’t measured them in a while, but I think I was recommended like a 10 or 10.5 EE in a dress shoe a while back. Any suggestions for a wide/flat footed dutchman? Looking for indoors as well as cleats.

    Thanks,

    Mark

I have US size 13EEE (yes, I had hobbit feet before Peter Jackson knew who Frodo was!), and would gladly invest in buying a boatload of boots if I could find a brand of firm ground and/or turf shoes that fit them well. Help!

    Hi guys -

Sorry for the late response, I’ve been very busy lately. I’ll try to get to all of you.

Kotaro – Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll definitely look into those for people with wide feet!

JD – Thanks so much for the info! I’m glad you’ve found cleats that finally work out for you.

Mark – I’d look at some of the Pumas I recommended in the article as well as the new kings (but not the SLs). For indoors, it’s much harder to say. It also depends on if you want studs or not – both types are considered indoor cleats. If you can give me a bit more info I can help you more.

Simon – Wow, 13EEE! I’d check out the new Puma Kings or Nike Laser IIs (K-leather) if you can find them. Those should be your best bets, but it’ll be hard to find them in 13, most likely. Let me know what you come up with!

Thanks again for all the comments!

  30. Simon November 10, 2010 at 11:31 am #

Sorry, I should say I have US size 12EEE, but because me feet are flat as pancakes I generally have to buy size 13 shoes to get enough room.

I recently tried a Puma King XL I FG, but was way too tight across the toebox. Also tried a pair of Diadora LX K II MG 14, and while a little tight in the toe box they feel like they might stretch enough with some use to give me some room. Also considering trying a pair of the Diadora Maracana’s a previous poster mention. All size 13. Haven’t had much liuck with any Nike’s I’ve tried over the years.

Nice to have a site where peeps can throw out their wide boot recommendations, btw!

    -Simon
